New materials are shared each week which can be accessed at students' convenience for the duration of the course. These materials are complemented with an online discussion forum which can be accessed at any time, for students to engage with each other, and with the instructor.
The course is appropriate for professionals at all levels. For those new to community engagement and local development, it gives a solid foundatio in the basics. For those more experienced, it provides a new way of thinking, helping students to link their technical and sectoral expertise with practical tools and strategies to improve results on the ground.

Deborah Cummins is the Director of Bridging Peoples. She has a PhD on local governance and democratisation, and has been working as a local governance and community engagement specialist since 2005.
During this time, she has worked in numerous countries, leading teams to provide research, monitoring & evaluation, policy analysis and program development support on a range of issues.
She has published widely on issues of decentralisation, community engagement, local governance, livelihoods and markets, justice delivery and gender issues.
